Mbuvi is an experienced executive with a career spanning audit, consultancy and aviation.

He began with Price Waterhouse in the UK and Kenya, then held senior roles at Lafarge, including Finance Director for Bamburi Cement, Managing Director of Hima Cement, Vice President Group Internal Communications at Lafarge Headquarters in Paris and General Manager of Mbeya Cement. He joined Kenya Airways in 2011, serving as COO and later as Group Managing Director and CEO until 2017. 

Currently, Mr. Ngunze is Chairman of Safarilink Aviation and Sustainable Power Solutions and an Independent Non-Executive Director at Bamburi Cement Plc and Mammoth Foam Africa. He is also Vice Chairman of Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and a board member of the Northern Rangelands Trust. Additionally, he chairs the Board at St. Andrews School Turi and the Kenya Association of Air Operators and mentors entrepreneurs with Endeavor Kenya. Mr. Ngunze has served on the boards of Bamburi Cement, Hima Cement, Mbeya Cement, Kenya Airways Plc, Precision Air Tanzania, IATA and Jambojet and chaired the Executive Committee of African Airlines Association (AFRAA).

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, accounting option from the University of Nairobi and is a Chartered Accountant (England and Wales).
