The Audit & Risk Officer will assist the internal audit department with audit engagements, compliance monitoring, and evaluating internal controls. They will also support the Risk department in risk identification, assessment, and the development of risk management strategies, ensuring compliance with risk tolerance limits. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing the Internal Audit work plan, including pre-audit preparations, fieldwork, and reporting.
  • Support in evaluating the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance systems.
  • Analyze financial & operational data, reports, and documentation to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and report on progress.
  • Support in conducting ad-hoc investigations and special reviews as required.
  • Prepare clear and concise audit working papers, documentation, and draft reports for review.
  • Engage in continuous learning to stay updated on audit practices, standards and sector rules.
  • Support the external auditors and act as the intermediary between them and the Group companies.
  • Keep up to date with emerging risks and ensure the Group is aware of and has prepared for these.
  • Assist business process owners (BPO) in conducting risk assessments to identify, assess and prioritize organizational risks.
  • Ensure the risk registers are updated and maintained continuously but at a minimum every quarter to reflect current risk exposure.
  • Help monitor the implementation of risk mitigation strategies, compliance to risk appetite & tolerance limits and report progress.
  • Prepare risk reports and dashboards for Management and relevant Board committees.
  • Ensure the Group’s risk management processes comply with applicable laws, regulations and Group policies.
  • Participate in risk awareness initiatives to promote a strong risk management culture across the Group.
  • Participate in development and updating of policies and procedures for risk management.
  • Support responses and reports to regulatory authorities.

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce/finance/actuarial science, business, law or related field.
  • Membership to internal audit & risk professional bodies.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in internal audit or risk, including at least 1 year of combined experience in both areas.
  • Experience in an insurance company will be an added advantage.
