Cannon Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Titus Naikuni as Chairman of the Board of Cannon General Insurance (K) Limited and David Abwoga as Chairman of the Board of Cannon Life Assurance (K) Limited.
Appointment of Titus Naikuni – Chairman, Cannon General Insurance
Mr. Naikuni is one of Kenya’s most respected corporate leaders, bringing over 30 years of executive leadership and board governance experience across the aviation, infrastructure, manufacturing, and financial services sectors.
Mr. Naikuni has extensive boardroom experience within the financial services sector, having served in leadership roles at institutions including Housing Finance Company of Kenya, Heritage Insurance, and Prudential Life Assurance Kenya.
He previously served as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Airways and has also held senior leadership roles including Managing Director of Magadi Soda Company and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Transport and Communication.
He currently serves as a director and advisor to several regional and international organizations and is actively involved in conservation and education initiatives.
Mr. Naikuni holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nairobi and completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School. He also received an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Appointment of David Abwoga – Chairman, Cannon Life Assurance
Mr. Abwoga brings over three decades of expertise in finance, audit, governance, risk management, and corporate strategy across the East African financial services sector.
He currently serves as an Executive Director at NCBA Group Plc, where he provides strategic leadership across the finance function while playing a key role in strengthening corporate governance, enhancing risk management frameworks, and driving effective oversight across the organisation.
His distinguished career includes senior leadership positions at Citibank, Marshalls East Africa, and Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Abwoga also serves on the boards of several educational and charitable institutions.
He holds a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Moi University. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Public Secretary, and Certified Information Systems Auditor.
Additional Board Appointment
In addition, the Cannon Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Judy Kamau as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of Cannon General Insurance (K) Limited and Cannon Asset Managers (K) Limited.
Ms. Kamau’s previous roles include serving as Non-Executive Director at Lycée Français Denis Diderot Nairobi, Senior Reinsurance Accountant at Renaissance Reinsurance Limited in Bermuda and Singapore, Accounts Executive at AON Insurance Managers – Bermuda, and Senior Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers Kenya.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology and an Executive Master in Coaching & Consulting for Change from INSEAD. She is a Certified Executive Coach, Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Associate in Risk Management, and Chartered Certified Accountant. Ms. Kamau is also a member of the Women on Boards Network.
The appointments of Mr. Naikuni, Mr. Abwoga, and Ms. Kamau mark an important milestone in strengthening Cannon Group’s strategic agenda. Their combined expertise in leadership, financial services, governance, and business strategy will support the Group’s continued growth across its insurance and asset management businesses.
